Education
Graduated in 1985 from Erasmus University Rotterdam where he followed a MBA program with a major in Taxation. During 1983/84 he studied US tax law at Pace University in New York.
Work Experience
Started his career with the Rotterdam office of Deloitte & Touche, in the international tax department. Joined the Benelux law firm Loeff Claeys Verbeke (LCV) where he became a partner in 1998. After the merger with LCV, he became a partner with the UK law firm Allen & Overy. Joined Otterspeer, Haasnoot & Partners as a partner during 2002.
His areas of practice are mainly Dutch corporate income tax and international taxation. He advises multinational clients on establishing tax efficient structures including: M&A transactions, reorganisations, debt restructurings, private equity and venture capital transactions, securitisations and other financing schemes.
Affiliations
He is a member of the Dutch Association for Tax Consultants (NOB) and the Dutch Association for Tax Science.
He was a preliminary advisor of the NOB in 1991 with as subject the EU parent/subsidiary directive on which subject he wrote certain publications. Is the author of the tax chapters in the books "M&A in the Netherlands" and "Corporate Law and Practice of the Netherlands", published in the Loeff Legal series. He is a correspondent for Tax Notes International in which publication he wrote several articles on Dutch (international) tax law.
